What Was Saxon Culture Like?

The Saxon culture is very different from todays. They had different ranks like the top people are the noblemen, thanes, freemen, serfs, and slaves. All of the important people lived in a castle. The thanes lived in a big house and had housecarls which are servants and (in times of war) soldiers. If you were traveling a monk might give you shelter for the night. The common people where armor and road horses from place to place. Also in every town there is levies which is an army.
