Charlemagne

Charlemagne was born in 742 AD. He was the eldest son of Pepin the Short and Bertrada of Laon. Charlemagne died in 814, having ruled as emperor for almost 14 years and as king for almost 46 years. Charlemagne was co-ruler with his brother Carloman I. he was mayor of the palace, then king. He won some very important battles and even drove back the Muslims. The King of Italy was picking a fight with the pope. The Pope called on Charlemagne to fight them. He fought them and won.
