The Portugies were the first to take people from Africa and force them to work in the new world. The majority of the slaves went to the Caribbean islands to work on plantations, but some also went to the colonies to work on tobacco farms. About 10,000,000 people where captured during the Atlantic Slave Trade. Almost half died in the slave ships. England got rid of the slave trade long before America did but it still efected Elgland.
The slavers went on a triangular route making money at each stop. The slavers took goods from Europe and took them to africa. In Africa they bought slaves and took them to the new world. From the new world they bought wheat and took it to Europe, sold it, and repeated the process. The Africans from the wars in Africa were sold to the Europeans by the king who captured the people. But some of the kings would not participate in the slave trade because they thought it was not wright. Also some of the slave ships captains refused to sail the ship and sell slaves for religious reasons.
