Hernandndo Cortes

Hernandndo Cortes was born in 1485. When he was 14 he went to study Latin at a school. His classmates did not like him and called him sickly. When he was 16 he heard of Christopher Columbus and wanted to be an explorer himself. He went to Cuba and worked in civil government. In 1518 he led a journey to mexico. He was supposed to cancel but he ignored it and continued to sail to mexico. He found lots of native and made alliances with them. But one unfriendly group of natives was the Aztec Empire. The Aztec vassals Hernandndo Cortes met on the way to Tenochtitlan, the Aztec capital, joined him. In the attack on Tenochtitlan Montezuma was killed by his own people. Also the entire city had gotten smallpox. The Spanish set fire to the city and captured it. Hernandndo Cortes rebuild Tenochtitlan and other parts of Mexico. He traveled to Honduras and Calafornia, but on the way back to Tenochtitlan in 1547 he died.
